Summer In Virginia

Would someone please turn the heat down? My fur brothers and I can barely stand the 100 plus degree days! We are thankful our human parents allow us to live inside year round. If you drop by our home you will find each of us laying on top of an air conditioning vent.

Please remember to check on your neighborhood fur babies and do not forget the elderly humans. Mom told us sometimes the elderly folks do not stay hydrated. Lets all do our part to check on the humans and furry creatures, too!

Nanuq Speaks

Hi, Nanuq here! I hijacked my furry brothers blog. Sitka is a blog hog and I have a word or two for you guys, today. I am getting older and my joints are full of arthritis. I am having trouble getting up and down. Mom and Dad are doing everything they can to keep me comfortable in my old age, but some days I have more trouble getting around than others.

Mom took the picture of Savannah and I last Thursday when Savannah came over to visit. I love Savannah. She is my humans granddaughter. When my humans rescued me Savannah was barely six months old and I use to lay beside her on the floor while she played. Savannah and I still like to cuddle! She is now four and half years old and the doggie doctor thinks I am at least 9 years old. I sure am glad she knows how to be gentle with me.

Mom and Dad pray I will have many more years with them. I have been trying to let them know I am old and tired and it is okay. They have given me a good life and I am thankful for my human and furry family. Of course, I don't want to leave them either.

Hopefully, Sitka want get too cranky when he finds out I took over his blog, today.

Cuddling with my humans,

Nanuq

All Dressed Up

Last weekend, Dad and Mom traveled to South Carolina for a family wedding. Don't they look wonderful "all dressed up?" They had a great trip and came back to us safely. What more could fur babies ask for? God answered our prayers for safe travel and blessings. We also prayed Mom and Dad would reflect GOD's love in all their travels.

This past Wednesday Dad received the results from his biopsy's. Out of 12 strands taken he had 5% cancer in one strand. It is slow growing. For now, the Urologist will monitor it regularly. Please pray for my humans as they seek to make wise decisions in each area of their lives.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Dad and Nanuq

Please pray for my human Dad. He has been having tests. Today, he had biopsy's. You can go over to mom's blog, Arise 2 Write and read the details of Dad's situation. I am calling all my furry friends and their parents to prayer. I have the best human Dad out there and this I know for sure. He puts up with a lot of furry adventures and laughs about most of them. Even when I get in trouble, he still loves me. In fact, I think he loves me all the more. He says, "that is what Jesus would do."

THANK YOU for storming the heavens in prayer with Mom, my furry brothers, my human siblings, and I. We appreciate your time!

Checking In

Mom has been hogging the computer lately. I have been enjoying the wonderful "cool" air GOD has sent us. I keep hearing people complain about the wonderful cooler temperatures. I love them. I wish my furry friends over in Alaska would quit hogging all the snow. We haven't even seen a little flurry here in the Richmond Metro area.

Praying all you humans and furry kids with less hair are staying warm and taking extra precautions. I realize GOD did not bless you guys with the extra fur HE so graciously gave me. He created me to endure the colder temperatures without a problem and I am thankful. There is a trade off. I have to be extra careful not to get over heated when summer brings those oven like temperatures.

My humans are staying quite busy and praying for many who are struggling. Please join us as we storm the heavens in prayer for all those with special needs.

Greetings from "The Perdue Zoo"

Greetings from "The Perdue Zoo." My furry brothers and I hope you had an awesome Christmas and will enjoyed a blessed New Year.  We will formally celebrate Christmas on December 30th with all our humans. Some of them were traveling on Christmas Eve when we normally celebrate and we did not want to have it without everyone, especially those two cute little humans my parents call grandbabies, Savannah and Elijah.

We have enjoyed a wonderful 2011. There are always bumps along the way, but Mom and Dad stay focused on GOD and HE sees them through. Let's all stay focused and embrace 2012 with GOD leading the way!

PS: Praying each of you has a safe and prosperous New Year!

I'm a Calender Boy

I'm a Calender Boy!
I was chosen to be September in this years BrownTrout Malamute Calender. The above photo is NOT the one in the Calender. Last year I debuted in their calender and they sold out. Could it have been me? Mom and Dad are sure it was because I was their "calender boy."

Simple Pleasures

These two little critters are my parents grandchildren, Elijah and Savannah. On Thanksgiving Day they played in the leaves in our front yard. Our human brother had blown them off the grass and into the edge of the woods.

Finally, humans who like to play in the leaves. Who needs gifts bought from the store? God gives us all sorts of great things for our enjoyment. Here at The Perdue Zoo we are thankful for the simple pleasures of this life!

Mom and Dad are feeling better, but are still coughing all night long every night. We hope things get back to normal soon. We are all ready to get our furry beauty sleep. We need it!

Our Parents

Mom and Dad returned home on October 30th. My furry brothers and I thought things would be back to normal. However, on November 1st both our parents became very ill. They are still sick. We wanted them home with us, but we don't like it when our humans are sick. We are doing our best to take care of our humans. Please join us as we put our furry paws together in prayer for the complete healing of our parents.

Hammer The Tortoise

Mom and Dad visited North Myrtle Beach for sixteen days. Yes, I said, "SIXTEEN!" While they were away, Mom found a hundred pound friend. His name was Hammer and he is an African Tortoise. I wish she had brought him home with her, but she said, it is too cold in Virginia for him. Excuses! Excuses! My fur brothers and I sure are glad to have our parents back. SIXTEEN days is too long for our humans to be gone! We are going to call a meeting and address this issue before they try it again.

Cooler Temps Make Me Happy

Finally, the temperatures are dropping. Mom and I played in the yard yesterday. We danced, jumped around, and enjoyed the wonderful cool breeze. My winter coat is coming in thick. Mom predicts a cold winter and I sure hope she is right. I love snow. I am bringing my furry paws together praying GOD gives me lots of it.

For those of you who don't like snow, remember I suffered through those hot summer months you love and I tried not to complain. I am thankful my humans are gracious enough to allow me to hover over the air conditioning vents through out spring and summer. Otherwise, I might have become cranky, too.

Aunt LaLa Teaches!

My parents human children and grandchildren have and continue to be raised around all kinds of animals. On Tuesday evening, Aunt LaLa (Lauren) teaches Savannah how to feed Keyo and apple safely.

It is very important to teach humans how to handle themselves with animals, otherwise they can get hurt. Don't forget to teach your humans respect and safety! We fur babies do NOT want to hurt your humans.

Mom's Interview

Mom is being interviewed at Art's Chili Pepper, by Ms. Kat. Hop over and read about a tough time in mom's life. She opens her heart to the world. We love our mom and we hope you will, too.

Dad and Mom Adventures

Last weekend, mom and dad went to the Beth Moore Simulcast in Rileyville, Virginia. Yes, my dad went to a women's conference. He is a pretty cool husband and dad. He goes to doggie places, too. We sure do love him for being such a cool dude.

After the women's event, dad took the scenic route home. He knows mom loves to ride through Shenandoah National Park. This furry guy in mom's picture was waiting to see her as she came through.

My furry brothers and I are glad mom and dad enjoyed their time away. It is reported that they stayed in a zoo very similar to ours. They may have even slept with chickens, but we don't have a picture to prove it.

Earthquake and Hurricane!

It's been a busy week here at the Perdue Zoo. First, we had an earthquake. My furry brothers and I were not affected much by the shaky ground. It did not last long.

Then, we had "Hurricane Irene!" She was a little noisier and left behind a bigger mess. Thankfully, the mess in our yard did NOT affect our home. Mom and Dad were happy to see we only had damage to the garage and fence.

Irene also took our power with her. We did NOT have A/C for five days. Mom and Dad did not seem to mind, but my furry brothers and I were quite hot. We have thick coats and love to lay on the air conditioning vents. I am happy to report the wonderful power people at Dominion Power restored our power last night. THANK YOU, Dominion Power for working day and night to get all us fur kids air conditioning back on. I am sure the humans appreciate it, too.

Hiking in Shenandoah

Last week Mom and Dad took their human granddaughter, Savannah on a hike in Shenandoah National Park. They hiked 1.4 miles to Dark Hollow Falls and back. The picture above is "Momma Bear." My humans met her on the way back up. She had a little cub with her. Mom did not get a good picture of "baby cub." Mom says, "humans must respect wild animals especially those with babies." Keeping a good distance is very important. I am thankful Dad bought Mom a great camera a few years ago. She can usually get good pictures without getting too close. My furry brothers and I would NOT want Dad to leave Mom in the woods with the wild animals.

What adventures have you been on lately?

The Scenic Route

Last Monday, Nanuq took dad to Ceaderfield Health Care facility. When they arrived, Dad wasn't sure which door he was to enter. Dad and Nanuq toured most of the facility before they came to the room they were to visit patients in. Dad talked to the patients in the room about Nanuq being old, having arthritis, and understanding how they felt. The patients loved him.

During their walk Nanuq visited with "many" people. These people were not able to attend Nanuq's meeting. Dad thought he messed up by parking where he did. He did not mess up. He took the scenic route and in doing so brought joy to many other people.

When GOD has you on the scenic route, do you recognize and enjoy the journey?

Traveling Chickens?

Mom and Dad visited "Sunny Dale" farm this weekend to watch their human daughter, Lauren ride her young horse Keyo for the first time. While they were there, Mom noticed the chickens and their home. They have quite the set up. My fur brothers and I wonder if they get to go on trips in their camper? Mom and Dad don't think they are traveling chickens, but they could be!

Their Back!

Mom and Dad

Their back! I can't believe how long my parents left us in charge of our human siblings. What were they thinking. It is a lot of work taking care of humans and watching after the home place. Couldn't they just hire someone and take us with them?

We are working on forgiveness. They came home with lots of love and hugs. Trouble and Nanuq nearly sat on top of mom for hours, while I acted like I had not noticed they were gone. I am not about to let them know how much their absence upset me. Hopefully, my human brother will not reveal my crankiness and mischievousness to them. I wouldn't even sleep in my normal spot while my parents were away. I slept at the back door praying every night would be the night they would come home. When I couldn't sleep I got into a little trouble. One night I got a plate out and broke it. I thought if I was bad enough they might hurry home, but it didn't work. I sure hope they behave themselves and stay home for a while.
