Snow Day

We finally got our first real snow for 2014. Although my arthritis doesn't allow me to romp and jump around in it, I am thankful we were blessed with enough for my humans to play in. In the picture above Dad is supervising my human sister as she pushes her son, Elijah and niece, Savannah. Dad says those are his grand-blessings and it's his job to protect them. I am pretty sure my sister can handle it. I think Dad forgets sometimes that she's a grown up.

Little Eli had never been on a sled before and I'm happy to say, "he loved it!" Mom and I have convinced both Savannah and Elijah to love the snow. Now, we just have to work on the new little human God just gave us. Her name is Charley, but she's way to little to come out and play this year.

As little humans go, she's cute and absolutely gorgeous, but she has this issue that seems to run in our family. You see, when we get babies they have this ugly disease called "Colic" and they scream a lot. Mom told me it's because their tummies hurt real bad. Looks like to me some human would have found a way to fix that disease by now, but what do I know. I'm just a dog.

I understand the bitter cold is everywhere and some humans must get out and drive in it. If you are one of those humans, be safe! I am genuinely concerned, but I also don't want to lose any readers. Not just everybody reads and understands dog/malamute!

Praying For Snow

This winter we received a "little" bit of snow, but not much. The picture above is mom and her human grandbabies, Savannah and Elijah, a few weeks back. There was barely enough snow for them to play in.

Don't get me wrong, I love snow and any snow at all is better than none, but I sure would like to have a blizzard. The Richmond Metro area needs a good deep snow. So, put your human and furry paws together and ask GOD for snow!

Setting The Record Straight

I hear mom has been talking about me, my furry siblings, and even my human brothers and sisters on her blog, Arise2Write. Don't believe everything you read. I don't know what she could possibly be referring to. Challenging.....not me, not my human siblings either. Well, maybe the humans, but not us fur babies. We would never drag her up trees, throw up on her expensive rugs, or chew up her brand new $500 eye glasses. Nope, not us!

Just setting the record straight!

Summer In Virginia

Would someone please turn the heat down? My fur brothers and I can barely stand the 100 plus degree days! We are thankful our human parents allow us to live inside year round. If you drop by our home you will find each of us laying on top of an air conditioning vent.

Please remember to check on your neighborhood fur babies and do not forget the elderly humans. Mom told us sometimes the elderly folks do not stay hydrated. Lets all do our part to check on the humans and furry creatures, too!

Sitka's Definition of Family

Families come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Biology does NOT make a family. Humans can be so weird sometimes. I am thankful my humans understand the true meaning of family. They have a blended family with adopted children, biological children, and furry kids. Bloodlines are NOT important to them. They love all their kids, human and furry! They do not show favor or partiality. I just wish more humans could "get it" and I know my Mom and Dad feel the same way when they try to tell others about their kids, grandkids, and furry kids! I can sometimes feel the frustration when people do NOT understand our definition of family.

A family is a group of humans or furry critters that love, support, and pray for one another! Could some of my followers please pray with me. The world could be a much better place if people would follow this simple principle!

Therapy Dog At Work

Today, Mom and I were reminiscing about my therapy visits in at The Laurel's of Willow Creek. The Laurels is a home to many seniors, but occasionally we see rehabilitation patients and younger patients with debilitating diseases.

Once while I visited, I met a young woman. She was a beautiful woman who could no longer walk or care for herself. With her drawn hands she reached for me. As I snuggled close, she began talking to my Mom with a broken voice. This young woman was plagued with Multiple Sclerosis. Mom and I were amazed by her countenance. She glowed with excitement as we visited.

While visiting we were told she had German Shepherds at home. She loves our visits and I, too enjoy seeing her great big smile. We snuggle and cuddle and Mom often allows her to give me special treats. I am always gentle taking them from her. When I take them she becomes excited and giggles loudly.

Just another precious day in the life of a therapy dog.
