Birth Announcement

Today, my human sister, Lauren surprised our family with a new baby boy. He is a precious young colt. She has not yet chosen a name. I sure hope she picks something he likes. Humans never ask us what we would like to be called. She lives about an hour from our home.

Mom and Dad loaded Wil, my human brother, Nanuq, and I in the SUV and off we went to see the new baby boy. Nanuq and I felt privileged to get to go. Wil was so excited, he stayed to help Lauren with the baby.

The new baby came from a race horse breeding farm. Apparently, he did not make the race horse cut and was taken from his mom and placed with a surrogate at 4 days old. He is a bit malnourished and has some sun burn.

My human sister will nurse him to health. She will love, train, and guide him into the "gentle giant" GOD created him to be.

I am thankful my family loves animals and longs to help them become the creatures GOD created them to be. I am thankful to live in a loving home with a loving family. I am thankful for all of my bloggy followers and friends. May GOD BLESS each of you.

Woofs and Wags,

Sitka

So this makes Sitka an uncle?

Otto's vet gave us some drops to put on the boo boos on his muzzle. But then tonight our younger son discovered a new spot on Otto's back thigh. So we applied the medicine to that spot too. We'll see what happens. He's never had anything like this (5 years old).

Congrats on your "nephew" Sitka!

Oh how wonderful! Beautiful horses. Do you and the horses get along Sitka, or do you mostly ignore each other?

I took Tobi for a walk at the park yesterday and there is some property that is against the park property with horses grazing there.

Tobi has never been around horses so we stopped for a few minutes to see what her reaction would be. I was surprised that she was alert and curious briefly and then more interested in all the other dog scents around us. :)

Edie,
I use to act like a crazy dog around horses, but I am much calmer now. Lauren has an adult horse named Tiger, too. Mom and Dad walk me on a leash and require that I behave. No chasing and acting crazy!
We look forward to watching her train and raise this little guy. I hope she picks the poor guy a name, soon.

It makes me sad that people just sent this horse away because he didn't make the cut. How wonderful to have a Heavenly Father that adopts us (like your precious sister did with the horse) to nurse us back to spiritual health.

Hope the horse grows big & strong!

For some reason I can't see the picture, but I'll bet he's beautiful.

My brother has horses and I used to love them when I was a kid. Now the thought of riding them intimidates me a little.

What a sweet little colt and I never knew race horse ranches did that to the baby horses. I hope he grows healthy and strong and wish him well!! thanks for sharing!!

Andrea, so glad my posts have been helpful to you. I cannot believe that they took the colt away so soon from the Dam! I never knew that! You'll have your work cut out for you with an orphan but I have confidence your daughter will become a good replacement! They do view us as their herd animals that's why you have to make sure your daughter is at the top of the pecking order. Does she just have one foal and someone else has the other but they're at the same barn? I'm a little confused. I thought I read that was the case before? It's good they're not alone. Any animal does better with another to keep them company! If you have any questions at all, I would love to help in any way! Hope you feel better today! Luanne
