Confession

Mom and Dad love birds. They keep feeders full of food in our back yard. The birds come from all over to eat the scrumptious bird feast provided. Most of the time, the birds have the yard and feeders to themselves. However, several times each day we are out with them. I can not help myself. I run straight for them. I don't want to hurt them, but it is so much fun watching them fly furiously away from me. Mr. Dove is safe in the tree waiting for us to go back inside. He likes to eat in peace. Mom keeps telling me that Malamutes are not "bird dogs." I have a friend who is a hound dog and he has informed me of the ways of hunting dogs. He says it is not about the kill. You are suppose to have "soft" mouths. It is all about the chase. I am not sure mom got the same memo as my friend Kramer (coonhound).

Woofs and Wags,

Sitka

Yep, Sitka, I know about dogs and birds. I once had to pry one of our baby chicks out of the mouth of a neighbor's dog. I think he was just trying to play, but the chick did not think of it that way!

Very nice picture of the dove. Mom took that shot? Now you know you wouldn't want to catch him.

My cat likes to try to hunt the birds but luckily they're always able to fly away from her. I would be so sad if she were ever able to grab one!

Also Andrea, your bag sounds lovely! It must bring back so many happy memories whenever you use it.

Mourning Dove - they sound so purty. Alaskan Malamutes ARE bird dogs IF they can catch them to eat them - they DON'T bring them back to you as a fetching thing - usually. LOL - keep trying though Sitka.

One of the best gifts my daughter, Sloane, ever received was a bird feeder. It was made for children with a plexiglass back so it could hang in her window and she could see everything about the birds. We have had so much fun with that.

Great picture. Thank goodness our dog doesn't chase birds. He will chase squirrels, cats, lizards, and other living creatures. He even went after some skunks twice in a few days. Needless to say, our dog had a lot of baths that week.

Too funny! We have a Plott hound and he doesn't pay much attention to the birds, but he does bark at unseen beings roaming about the place. We cannot figure it out. He's a strange dog...
