Doggie Diet

Nanuq had his annual doggie physical this week. Dr. Jordan put him on a doggie diet. I am not going to reveal his weight gain for the year, but we will just say, "it was NOT good." Mom and Dad were both shocked, because they are diligent to measure our food and keep us on a schedule. Dr. Jordan explained, "When dogs and people get older their metabolism changes and they need to cut their food back or they will gain weight."

Poor Nanuq! They are cutting his food in HALF and to make matters worse they implied he was getting OLD! Nurse Nancy tried to give Nanuq a treat before he left and he refused to take it!

Don't you think they hurt his furry feelings?

Do you get your feelings hurt when you go to the doctor and he speaks the truth?

Sometimes the truth is hard to accept! Nanuq is working on it and we are all here to love and support him!

Woofs and Wags,

Sitka

Mom and Dad had to put us on a special food a few months back to help with our urinary system because we are getting older.

It doesn't feel nice when your feelings get hurt. Nanuq is not getting older, he's getting better! :> )

((((hugs))))~

Poor Nanuq. Yes, my Dr. hurts my feelings, sometimes, too. Join the club.

Hi there, So sorry Nanuk put on a bit of weight-probably the winter and lack of exercise...at least that is my excuse. I give my dog baby carrots as treats-he loves them and it is so much healthier. I also use senior dog food although I'm not sure your guy is older. Hugs and have a great weekend.

Aw, poor Nanuq. Sometimes one has to be VERY gentle when one speaks the truth so as not to hurt someones feelings. I think an increase on comforting cuddles will be needed :-)

Aw poor Nanuq. I can relate to those extra lbs from slowing down. Tobi and I are both looking the part just a tad more than either of us would like. But I try not to mention it to her. :)

Nanuq looks beautiful there in the snow.

I am finding this true as a human. I must eat much less and move much more!! It is best for Nanuq to lose his weight so he will stay longer with you. xoxo

You are so so right, the truth is very hard to hear some times, necessary but hard.

Keep on loving on him and he'll work through it.

P.S. Don't eat in front oh him and encourage him to take extra runs with you. :)

My feelings get hurt if my doctor tells me I'm furry.

I know how Nanuq must feel. My doctor also cut my calories in half! I am getting old, too, it would seem. Oh, my! Gotta listen to the doc, though, I guess. it will be worse if we don't!

Oh, poor Nanuq! It just doesn't seem fair sometimes, does it? And yes, the truth is very hard to take sometimes.

Oh dear, poor boy.
We also had to cut down Laura's diet when she got older. Hope Nanuq can get to the right weight soon!
