Calender

I confused everyone with the picture I posted about the calender. My calender picture has NOT been posted on this blog. It will be a surprise. All Mom and Dad will allow me to tell you is I was photographed at Pocahontas State Park, in Chesterfield, Virginia. I stood in front of the pond full of lily pads for one of the shots (my furry hint). I am sorry for the confusion.

I will let you know how to order them in July of 2010, when they become available. You will then be prepared for 2011.

It has been a busy week in "The Perdue Zoo." I hope all of you are doing well.

Chosen for a Calender

A while back, I did a photo shoot with professional photographer, Dwight Dyke. Yesterday, Mom received and email from him.

I was chosen to be featured in the 2011 Alaskan Malamute calender. WOW, I can't believe I am going to be in a calender for all the world to see. What an honor and a privilege. My parents will be able to order calenders beginning July 2010. Both Mom and Dad are excited. The calender company chose Dad and Mom's favorite photo of me. I have to wait a "long" time to see my furry self in a calender. God is still teaching my furry self patience. I suppose I am still a work in progress.

Thanks to everyone for your love, encouragement, and support.

Tonight's Visit

Tonight, Mom and Dad spent the evening with Nanuq at Central State Hospital. I wanted to go with them, but Mom felt it wise for me to stay home another week. I so miss helping humans feel better. Mom reminds me I do not have to leave home to do my job. She tells me I am special and not all dogs get to tell their stories about dog therapy. What would we canines do without Mom's to encourage us? Thank you Mom and thank you to all of my followers.

After visiting tonight, Nanuq could not wait to share with me. Nanuq's evening was full of adventure. Many of the patients were a little confused tonight. One thought she was lassie and had raised her own pups. Another patient thought Nanuq was her grandmother. One gentleman thought he was a K-9 because he, too had hair on his arms.

For the last 30 minutes of Nanuq's visit, he spent his time with a young man. The young man seemed to need his attention. He needed someone to listen to him. Mom suggested the young man tell Nanuq to heel so they could walk around in the large room together. Nanuq politely followed the young man's commands and stayed with him at every turn. It was a wonderful surprise to this young man for Nanuq to listen and obey. Both Nanuq and the young man were filled with joy and both faces wore radiant smiles.

Dog therapy is never the same. The needs are great. Our visits encourage the souls of many humans in a profound way. Mom gets lots of questions about dog therapy and often she has a difficult time explaining the value of our jobs. In reality it is not explainable. It is truly a "God Thing." You have to witness it to realize the eternal value. GOD often uses us in ways beyond comprehension.

Please pray for our human patient friends at Central State Hospital as well as the staff and Doctors. There are many hurting people and there are many special souls who work and serve in this facility because they want to make a difference. Nanuq, Trouble, and I are privileged to be a part of their team.

Sitka's New Look

Thank you, Edie @ Rich Gifts for giving my blog a new look. Mom and I are amazed at your talent. You captured the heart of my furry being in your blog design and I will be forever grateful.

To each of my followers: Please visit Edie and let her know what you think about my new blog appearance. I, too would like to know what you think. Edie is going to make me a beautiful scripture tag, too. She is such a sweetheart. God truly designed a wonderful human when he created Edie. She is extra special because she appreciates "All God's Creatures."

Pray for Mom and Dad

Just dropping in to let you know Mom is swamped with my human sister's wedding. She and Dad are exhausted. The wedding is Saturday and then they will have clean up duty for the reception. Hopefully, we will be back to our normal furry lives next week.

Please pray Mom and Dad do take care of themselves. Human siblings do not always realize the toll stress and hard work take on mommies and daddy's. My furry brothers, sister, and I are trying to give them as much furry emotional therapy as we can. We snuggle closely and we are trying to be on our best furry behavior.

Mr. and Mrs. Swan

A week ago, Mom visited the fishing club with Dad. While walking around the lake Mom made new friends. Mr. and Mrs. Swan came out of the water and followed Mom around. Mom actually had to keep backing up to take these pictures because they were at her feet.

Dad was amazed. He is one of the owners of the fishing club and the swans have been chasing the fisherman. Yes, chasing! and from what I gather in doggie language they were not being polite about it.

I always knew Mom was special. I see qualities other humans do not see. She has an understanding of many of us in the animal kingdom. We sense her spirit and we know she is safe.

Mr. and Mrs. Swan knew Mom would not hurt them. They knew they could trust her. The swans were sensitive to their surroundings. Are you sensitive to yours? Not everyone is safe. People can be mean and cruel. Mr. and Mrs. Swan and I(Sitka) ask you to pray for a sensitivity to your surrounds. Pray for God's guidance as you go about your daily lives.

Be sensitive! Be aware! Be safe!

Sitka Spruce

Today, I am sharing a beautiful picture taken by Mom's special friend, MaryGrace. MaryGrace is a dear friend. She loves Mom and she loves "everyone" in "The Perdue Zoo."

While traveling this summer, MaryGrace took a picture of this tree for mom. It is a SITKA SPRUCE. Thank you, MaryGrace!

I could not believe there was a tree named after me. Mom assured me the tree came first, but God knew I was coming along. The silly humans may not have known, but GOD did.

There is also a city in Alaska named, Sitka. Mom and Dad told me they chose my named because it means, "by the sea" and they both love the sea. Sitka was also the Russian Capital of Alaska before America purchased it. I think we should have kept its beautiful coastal city as the capital, but I am a dog and no one would have listened to me or my furry ancestors.

Hope you are all enjoying your journey.
