Nanuq and Wil

Nanuq is still on doggie bed rest. He is dreaming of walking on the beach with our human brother, Wil. Mom and Dad are quite concerned. They are watching him, closely.

For those of you who think I, sitka have trouble spelling my human brothers name. You are wrong. I can spell. His name is Wil with one "L." His given name is Wilson, hence the reason for one "L." Poor guy has struggled all his life with humans adding an "L" to his name. Wil loves all of us furry kids and we love him, too. As humans go, Wil is the best!

Confession

Mom and Dad love birds. They keep feeders full of food in our back yard. The birds come from all over to eat the scrumptious bird feast provided. Most of the time, the birds have the yard and feeders to themselves. However, several times each day we are out with them. I can not help myself. I run straight for them. I don't want to hurt them, but it is so much fun watching them fly furiously away from me. Mr. Dove is safe in the tree waiting for us to go back inside. He likes to eat in peace. Mom keeps telling me that Malamutes are not "bird dogs." I have a friend who is a hound dog and he has informed me of the ways of hunting dogs. He says it is not about the kill. You are suppose to have "soft" mouths. It is all about the chase. I am not sure mom got the same memo as my friend Kramer (coonhound).

Update on Macy

Macy has continued to defy the doctors odds. It has been six months since our vet declared her terminal. She received this diagnosis just as she turned 16 years old. She is about a 100 years old in doggie years, according to the new formulations used for size and years. Given her age and condition, she is doing well. Her cancerous tumors are growing, but she remains comfortable and happy. She loves to spend most of her days laying on Mom and Dad's bed. Mom and Dad put an old WWII Naval foot locker at the end of the bed. Macy jumps onto it and then onto the bed. They keep a blanket on their bed for her to lay on. This blanket is one of her favorites. You can't tell, but it is Dad's "Hokie" (VT) blanket. It is warm and very cozy.

Thank you for your continued prayers for my older doggie sister, Macy. Our family appreciates your love, prayers, and encouragement more than you know.

A Beautiful Visit

On Wednesday night, Mom, Dad, and I visited the patients at Central State Psychiatric Hospital. The patients have come to expect my visits. As I laid on the floor waiting for them to approach me, a young lady entered the room, ran over, and laid down with me. She put her arms around my neck and hugged me. She spent a lot of time with me Wednesday night. She was not at all afraid of me, even though I was clearly bigger than she. I heard Mom ask Dad on the way home, "Did you say the way Sitka and the young lady were looking into each others eyes? There was a real connection with them." Dad replied, "Yes, I did."

Sometimes, psychiatric patients are afraid or do not trust humans, but they almost always trust me. Mom and Dad are continually amazed as they watch me work with the patients. I love my job and Mom and Dad love watching me perform the job GOD has called me to do.

Happy Spring!

I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful spring day. The weather is warming up in our part of the country. I will soon be found hovering over the air conditioning vents seeking cooler temperatures. Mom and Dad are kind enough to turn the air down during those hot months, just for Nanuq and I. I am enjoying the spring weather while it lasts and hoping GOD postpones the heatwave of summer!

Nanuq Goes To The Vet

On Wednesday, Mom and Dad decided it was time to take Nanuq back to see our favorite doggie doctor. Dr. Jordan checked his knee and found the problem. He has torn the left rear posterior cruciate ligament. He will be on doggie bed rest and rimadil for six weeks.

Please keep Nanuq in your prayers.

Resting

Today has been a busy day, celebrating Easter with our family (furry and human). I am resting comfortable and dictating to mom. I just couldn't lift my heavy paw to post on my own. I am thankful to have a human Mom who picks up the pieces when I drop them!

Please continue to pray for Nanuq. His leg is better, but not totally well. Mom and I heard there are suppose to be thunderstorms in our area this week. Yikes...it could be an adventurous week, here.

Furry Visits

Last night, I left Nanuq at home with Macy and Trouble while I visited the patients at Central State Psychiatric Hospital. Nanuq's leg is better, but still not completely well. Trouble and Macy took very good care of him while we were away.

The patients were happy to see us. There were a couple of new patients who needed to receive furry love and attention. It is always great to visit with those who need a special touch. Sometimes they are afraid, but as soon as I roll over with my feet in the air they smile and begin to pet me. I suppose I do look a bit silly upside down!

Thanks for continuing to pray for our ministry. Thank you for continuing to come and read about all GOD is doing in our furry lives. Indeed, GOD has a perfect plan for us....not just for our humans!
