Keeping Your Furry Kids Warm

Just dropping in to remind everyone to take extra special care of your furry kids. My fur is good for 40 below, but that does not mean I like to stay out in it. Most doggies do not have fur like mine and they can freeze to death in this kind of weather.

We prefer to be inside, but if you can not allow your dogs to come inside, please....please....please make sure they have heated shelter with lots of warm blankets, thawed water, an a little extra food. We burn extra calories trying to stay warm.

I thank GOD my parents are able to allow us to live inside. My furry sister, brothers, and I would not like living outside all the time.

Woofs and Wags,

Sitka

You are so right and a great reminder to those parents who dont let thier furbabies live in the house! Keeping that water from freezing can be a problem, the extra food is very important. Also a coat on them can be helpful, but make sure it has safety releases if the baby is left outside unattended. They need to be able to get loose if they get caught on something!

You believe like me.

I was so upset yesterday. An acquaintance had her little doggies outside in the cold weather and one dog died. There was a dog house and wood shavings with a heat lamp but the poor thing...oh I could just CRY!

Please everyone...take extra care. Especially with little dogs who aren't meant for the cold.

We took in a kitty over night for a couple of nights with a clean towel, food and water. We found the owner and now it is in their garage.

It is just too cold to leave animals out overnight. Thanks for the reminder.

I believe all responsible pet moms and dads would be sure their little and big ones are safe in all weather... xoxo

Hi, Sitka~

We are so grateful that our parents keep us inside too. On Sunday, they came back from their lunch date early, just to make sure the wood stove was still on for us. Now THAT'S love! :> )

Blessings~

Great Reminder! And it reminds me that more of Oli's old baby blankets need to go to our local dogs trust as they will get more use out of them then what my cupboard will!!

Oh I just hate to think of furry friends at night out in the cold...we even have a red fox in our neighborhood and when it was 8 degrees...cpouldn't help but think about him!

I'm glad you have a warm home, Sitka. I hope those without one will find one. You do well to remind people of what cold can do even to dogs.

You are right. I am glad that your mom left you indoors. We don't have snow here, but it has been a constant downpour, but cold nonetheless even for our dog.

NICE POST!!!! This is a great reminder! I did not know that about Husky's.. I can't stand it when my Smokes, my Husky, will not come in if it is REAL cold outside!
Thanks!
