Confession

Last night Mom and Dad served a beautiful dinner to our guests. Normally, we are allowed to lay by the table while our parents eat. However, on this evening they decided to eat on the large table in the Florida room and Mom shut the big glass doors leading from our family room and kitchen. My furry brothers (Nanuq and Trouble), Sister (Macy), and I were left on the other side.

I was appalled. How dare they exclude us from their festive event. I am normally very obedient, but my feelings were bruised and battered. After a little while, I decided to express my disgust with the situation.

I am tall and getting into trouble is not a problem. I strolled into the kitchen and looked around. First, I eyed a package of yummy wheat hot dog buns laying close to the edge. I quietly opened and ate them "all," but the best was yet to come.

AHA, there it was, our guests brought a red velvet cake. I pulled it off the counter, but Mom and Ms. Sue Ellen heard it hit the floor. By the time Mom got to me I had consumed 1/4 of the cake.

Mom put me in a down by the big table where they were eating. She thought she was punishing me, but I won. I was right where I wanted to be all along. You see, like a little child who desperately wants its parent's attention, I will get it one way or another.

Just so you know, I feel much better since I have confessed to the entire world.

Woofs and Wags,

Sitka

Oh Sitka! If I was a dinner guest you would have done me a huge favor! Of all cakes, Red Velvet is my LEAST FAVORITE! I remember my mother discovering this recipe when I was a young person. In its day, it was the last word in an elegant cake. When I tasted it, all I could think of is YUCK!!!! (sorry Ms. Sue Elen...) Laughing HARD in Alaska!!! xoxo A fan of chocolate cake with marshmallow buttercream frosting..... yummy

Sitka you were just being a dog. One Christmas I walked upstairs to find one of my dogs on the table helping themselves to the meat and cheese tray.

The girls and I laughed hard over this today. But we also got to talk about temptation and why we should not give in. Thanks for the lesson Sitka! LOL!

Andrea, I gave this blog link to a friend in Washington last night as I knew she would be interested in the ministry you, your husband, and the dogs share. This friend is a horse person and does a different kind of animal therapy in that she uses horses to help children recapture lost skills or undeveloped skills from accidents, autism, muscular dystrophy, etc., also to develop some self-esteem or even communication such as you have experienced with the dogs, i.e., the man speaking to your dog when the staff had not heard him speak! Thank you for opening our eyes to your incredible ministry. ~ linda

I see I don't need to teach you any tricks! Have you tried removing bacon strips as she puts them on the pan? If you are quick enough she'll think she mis-counted!
Best wishes,
Ben-dog.

Aw...Sassy Sitka! Last year Otis ate my 5 lb package of fudge that was wrapped under the Christmas tree. He didn't even get sick! I guess we learned the hard way..no edibles under the tree!

Ooohhh, poor thing. I'm sorry you were left at the "puppy table" (so to speak). I certainly recall wanting to join the grown-ups at their dinners and parties when I was younger, too.

If you're ever in my neck of the woods, sweet pup, there is a place t my table for you and your family (human and dog alike).

Thank you very much to your wonderfully mommy for her impute regarding my oddly behaving hot roller set, I really appreciate it!

Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
