Dog's Smell Cancer & Other Disease's

"Dogs can smell cancer and low blood sugar. The Pine Street Foundation, a cancer-education and research center in San Anselmo, Calif., published a study showing it was possible to train dogs to identify, based on breath samples, which patients had lung and breast cancer. Now the organization is recruiting ovarian cancer patients and dogs for a new study. In diabetics, the presence of ketones—substances made by the body during the metabolic process—can be smelled in urine and on the breath when blood sugars are high. Dogs can pick up on other smells that humans can’t when glucose levels drop." Health.com

We canines are amazing creatures. I alert my Mom before she has an asthma attack. Mom then takes her medication. For over two years, I have been able to prevent Mom from having asthmatic episodes. Mom gives me lots of extra furry hugs and belly rubs. She is very appreciative of my abilities and I am thankful to be able to be an active participant in keeping Mom healthy.

Yes, Sitka! Us, nurses in the jail can smell the diabetics' breath, too but as humans, it's easier for us to just check their urine using the test strips.
But that's amazing that you can detect if a person has cancer. Or like if your Mom's condition necessitates the use of her meds. That is one awesome thing that our Creator installed in you. God is awesome! so awesome! And the work that you do for Him! God bless.

I've read that dogs can detect cancer before but didn't know if it was true.

It's so awesome that God will use animals like that. You are a gifted creature Sitka. :)

Hope your paw is doing better.

Sitka,

I have read about that before and think it's an amazing gift that God bestowed upon dogs. It is one of the few things for me that still remains a bless miracle. No medical school required!

This is really amazing, Sitka! I've never heard of this, however I am not surprised. God has gifted ALL of HIS creatures to fulfill specific purposes.
